Thanks for visiting my website.  I created this site to feature some of my writing projects about food and food culture.   I am originally from Taiwan and came to the U.S. at the age of 7.  Throughout my life, food has always been the lens through which I interpreted the world.  Whether it's my formal education, farming, cooking or personal relationships, thinking about how, where and why food fits into the social fabric of life has always been a deep philosophical journey.  The topics I write about are derived from my personal experiences growing up as an immigrant in this country.  Assimilating into American culture has been an interesting process that allowed me to experience, witness and react to what it means to be a minority in America. Exploring socio-gastro-culinary inequalities through food will be the main "flavor" throughout my writing.

As for my nine-to-five job, I work for the City of New York procuring food for various city agencies.  I help feed the prison population, NYPD and procure food for the Food Bank among other things.  I also teach part-time at a local university and spend my weekends farming in Brooklyn during the growing season.  Note:  My writings reflect my own personal opinions and do not represent any organizations or jobs that I am affiliated with.
